How do you learn AI agents?
There are three paths: free self-study, academic distance courses, and paid intensive courses. Agentakademin is the free Swedish path. You get the fundamentals, an AI glossary with over 250 terms, and practical guides, at no cost and with no account. This page compares all the paths honestly, including the ones that are not ours.
Path 1: free self-study
Path 2: academic, with university credits
Kristianstad University offers Prompt Engineering (3 ECTS) and Linköping University offers Working effectively with generative AI systems (3 ECTS), both remote. KTH and Chalmers run open online courses. Free within the EU/EEA, apply via antagning.se. Choose this path if you want credits on paper.
Path 3: paid intensive courses
IHM runs a one-day course on building agent teams without code. Crisp and Abundly run two-day courses in Stockholm. NobleProg offers instructor-led training in LangChain and multi-agent systems. Fastest if your employer pays, but not where you need to start.
How to choose
Common questions
Do I need to know how to program to build AI agents?
No. Tools like n8n and Flowise let you build agents visually, without code. If you want to code, Python is the most common language.
What does it cost to learn AI agents?
The fundamentals are free. Agentakademin, AI Sweden, Elements of AI, and the Microsoft course cost nothing. Paid intensive courses usually range from a few hundred to a few thousand euros.
How long does it take?
The fundamentals take a weekend. You can build your first simple agent in an evening with the right tools. Expect a few weeks of practice to become self-sufficient.
What is the difference between a chatbot and an AI agent?
A chatbot answers questions. An agent plans in several steps, uses tools, and works toward a goal. The glossary explains more.
Is there good material in Swedish?
Yes. Agentakademin is entirely in Swedish. AI Sweden and the Swedish Internet Foundation have Swedish courses, and the Microsoft agent course is translated.
